Yes, this is the biggest advantage of Session for me, so far. It uses cryptographic identifiers instead of a global namespace like phone numbers (or like ENS/HNS/Fio/etc), which gives me more control and sense of safety—I give my identifier only to people that I want to talk to.

Definitely not the use case we had in mind when we built Session — but a simple explanation of why it's vital to avoid leaking metadata.

Encryption is overrated. If you see encrypted messages between your wife and her ex-boyfriend at 2 AM, you already have all the information you need, don't need the plain text, just metadata.

by far some of the most impressive web3 apps
4/ I think that privacy should be one of the tenets that crypto strives to uphold, similar to how decentralization is. Privacy warrants more discussion and awareness, as it is also something that can be stripped away if we are complacent and do not protect or defend it.
