We plan to migrate the database of CryptPad.fr to a more performant physical disk today. We have tested this procedure on several of our less critical machines over the last week and do not expect it to impact the service's availability.
Everything went smoothly today. To complete the migration we will need to restart our server. This is planned for between 12:30 and 13:00 tomorrow (Paris time).
We expect no more than five minutes of downtime and will post any updates here.
It appears that the problem was due to a malfunctioning virtual machine hosted on the same physical infrastructure.
We have begun enforcing resource limitations on the malfunctioning machine and this seems to have restored normal performance for our server.
We've been increasingly concerned about instance administrators not reading our carefully written release notes and hosting dramatically misconfigured servers. This puts their data and that of their users at risk unnecessarily.
Starting with this release the CryptPad client will detect some common configuration errors that undermine the security features we work so hard on. In these cases it will now print a message indicating how the server is misconfigured and abort loading.
Yes, you read that right! Like any responsible worker, CryptPad will refuse to work under unsafe conditions! 👷
We provide lots of resources to make configuration easier, but that only helps if you read their recommendations.
If you still have problems after you've read our documentation, followed the steps in the release notes, and reviewed your instance's checkup page, then you might want to join the #instance-admins channel in our Matrix space.
If you used our resources and had an easy time configuring your instance then we'd appreciate it if you'd join our Matrix channel and help out those who are having issues.

ANOTHER UPDATE: somebody forked uMatrix (gitlab.com/vannilla/ematrix) so there are options besides uBlock Origin.
In any case, we haven't audited any of these extensions, so use these at your own risk. The point is to NOT use AdGuard because it breaks important security features.
